Epidemiology

Ang acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) ay isang espesyal na uri ng acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Humigit-kumulang 95% ng mga pasyente ng APL ay sinamahan ng isang espesyal na pagbabago sa cytogenetic, katulad ng t(15;17)(q22;q21), na ginagawang ang PML gene sa chromosome 15 at ang retinoic acid receptor α gene (RARA) sa chromosome 17 ay pinagsama upang bumuo ng PML-RARA fusion gene.
